In a partnership with the non-profit organization Rock the Vote and SidLee, we designed a space within Minecraft called “Build the Vote” where people can learn about the US electoral process.
From October 26th to 30th, players were visiting the world. There, players went through steps that American voters take during the electoral cycle. They visited a replica of the US Capitol, where they could walk around the rooms and learn about the electoral process, register their avatars and vote on urgent issues of 2020.

Capitol building

For the exterior I created the spawn pavillon as a starting point with a path leading through a park up to a government building inspired by the US capitol.

Garden

Interior

The main complex of the interior focusses on the registration process under a glass dome across all floors. From here, the player is able to enter the big office, library, bureau rooms, a technical room, restrooms or even the roof. Everything is, of course, decorated in the American election manner.

The topics

Once the voting period is over, Rock the Vote and Sid Lee will be able to see how many people vote on each issue, thanks to an agency-specific plug-in created for the game. The tracking system records only one vote per player IP address. The NGO will then share the results on its social media platforms.

After registering in the main building, players get their own voting space with booths gathered around a room. Each booth contains a topic for the player to agree or disagree with
